Join Baltimore’s beer aficionados for the 2012 BBW Opening Tap Celebration at Power Plant Live! to celebrate the official beginning of Baltimore Beer Week. Witness the ceremonial tapping of the first firkin using the fabled “Star Spangled Banger”, enjoy unlimited samples of the area’s finest beers, mingle with Baltimore’s beer industry elite and more!

Enjoy beer tasting, appetizers and music with your all inclusive ticket! The ceremonial tapping of the “First Firkin” from Heavy Seas Beer will get the party started at 6pm.

Join Baltimore Beer Week co-founder and Brewer’s Hill native Dominic Cantalupo along with the well-respected Baltimore Sun journalist and writer, Rob Kasper and Baltimore City Liquor Board Chairman, Steve Fogleman, as they take you on a walking pub tour through Brewer’s Hill and Canton. This promises to be a very informative and often comical outing exploring the revered traditions of pubs and the general beer and brewery scene on Baltimore’s southeast side. The tour will focus on anecdotal moments, hearsay, and stories from days past.

We will start at Elliott’s Pour House at 3pm sharp, then hit the Knotty Pine, walk by the National Bohemian Brewery Site and the Hamm’s/Schaefer Brewery site and then head to Canton to visit the Baltimore Taphouse, Mahaffey’s Pub and end at the Hudson Street Stackhouse. There will be numerous “secret” surprises as we go along.

Please be prepared by having cash on hand as we tour to facilitate quicker departure times and because many pubs have a minimum credit amount that can be charged. It is advisable to park midway between Canton and Brewer’s Hill to minimize the walk one way or the other.

The Brewer’s Association of Maryland is proudly hosting the 10TH Annual Maryland Brewer’s Oktoberfest at the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium. This lively festival will include beer gardens featuring over 80 beers from fifteen local breweries, a delicious assortment of food, live bands, exciting contests, oompah bands and much more.

Attendees will be entertained by dancing and musical performances on two stages. The main stage will consist of local acts such as Junk Food and Versus The Earth. The “German” stage will feature Baltimore’s finest oompah revelers – the Edelweiss Band. Everyone will also be amused by the Miss Oktoberfest Contest, Baltimore’s Best Beer Belly Competition, Wife Carrying Contest as well as the Maryland Brewer’s Homebrew Competition with CASH prizes!

OSKAR BLUES BREWERY goes NITRO at T Bonz Grill and Pub. OB will offer up G’Knight Imperial Red and Old Chub Scotch Ale on Nitro. Pouring on CO2 will be Dale’s, Mama’s, Gubna, and maybe even some Ten FIDY! The first 24 people in get a souvenir glass to take home.

The Flying Dog mutts are building a Habitat for Humanity house on Jefferson Street October 7th and are ending their day with a Habitat fundraiser at Langermann’s in Canton. We’re taking over all 8 drafts with our Doggie Style Classic Pale Ale, Snake Dog IPA, Raging Bitch Belgian-Style IPA, Tire Bite Golden Ale, In-Heat Wheat Hefeweizen, Dogtoberfest Marzen, and The Fear Imperial Pumpkin Ale.
