Beer Blog: Charm City Beer Wars

Sunday, April 22nd marked the first Charm City Beer Wars, which was held at Mother’s Federal Hill Grille. The festival was to be held outdoors, weather permitting, but the rainy afternoon forced it inside. Each attendee had the opportunity to sample beer from each of the ten participating local Maryland breweries and then vote for their favorite.

Baltimore Beer Babes’ 1st Meet & Greet at Max’s, May

Craft beer is taking the city by storm, and the female half of the population is on the front lines. To celebrate this, and also to bring more women into the fold, the newly formed Baltimore Beer Babes is hosting their first-ever gathering. Come to Max's Taphouse at 6:30 PM on Wednesday, May 16 to meet a group of Baltimore women who are involved in the brewing industry, or just love great beer.

Year of Good News Highlights Baltimore’s Rich Beer History

Baltimoreans like their beer, and so far it's been a good year.

My colleague Erik Maza, who keeps his eye on the local brew scene, has been the bearer of malty good news.

He has written about the Heavy Seas Alehouse, which opened earlier this year — the first new bar of 2012 — and the glasses of Heavy Seas Beer, Peg Leg Imperial Stout and Pale Ale that flow from its taps. Read more.
